URBANATIX – A crossover mix of new contemporary urban street cultures and modern artistry with more than 55 performers: New Shows from the 9th – 18th of November 2012
“The new Ruhr District is no longer inhaling dust, but rather the future.”
Vision is required in order to design the future. URBANATIX empowers young people’s visions to become reality by taking the will, energies, imagination and resources demonstrated by them in the street culture scene and raising these factors to an artistic level that is unique in the Ruhr Area (German – “Ruhrgebiet”). URBANATIX offers the young participants development opportunities extending far beyond the borders of their respective scenes.
61 street artists and world-class acrobats fascinated the Ruhr Area with “URBANATIX – The Show” in May and December 2010 and in November 2011 as an innovative presentation of urban physical art and modern artistry.
The street artists practicing parkour/freerunning, tricking/martial arts, breakdance and biking were selected by several castings. Then they worked with international trainers, artists and choreographers who developed the young people´s talents in numerous workshops and a 14-day trainings camp. In 2010 and 2011 the young people, selected from the castings, proved with “URBANATIX – The Show” that month of hard training pay off. Together with world-class artists the young traceurs, trickers, breakers and BMX riders presented an breathtaking multimedia artistic show on the stage of one of Europe´s most extraordinary venues: The industrial cathedral “Jahrhunderthalle” in Bochum.
